We offer an additional step to your home inspection that is revolutionizing the home buying and selling process. At PTJ Home Defenders we are a Certified Master Thermographer which means we have the technology and equipment to dive deeper into a home inspection to uncover potential underlying issues. Thermal imaging is essentially heat imaging. The technology and equipment used to look at warm and cold heat signatures can uncover hidden areas of concern. For example, leaks will absorb heat energy revealing a cool signature with our camera. We can detect issues with roofing, plumbing, electrical, walls, and even pests with thermal imaging. Our expertise and training allow us to accurately interpret the results and how to deal with them. No more buying a home only to find a leak that was undetected or an issue with the HVAC. Keep in mind when purchasing a home, homes are not free from defects and flaws, but our assessments are intended to fully disclose the condition of the property.
Realtors know they can count on PTJ Home Defenders for timely home inspections and easy to read home inspection reports. We cover all aspects of the property during our inspections.

We have earned the business of home buyers, sellers, property managers, investors, and business owners alike, although the majority of our business comes from buyers looking to call McKinney home. Our aim is always to identify any potential problems at an early stage so that they can be managed effectively. Customers also enjoy learning we are an inspector with the Department of Energy (DOE) and offer home energy assessments that can evaluate how your home uses energy and great ways to improve its energy efficiency. We pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence, ensuring that all of our inspections meet or exceed the highest standards.
Yes. Builders move fast in growing areas like McKinney, and city code inspections only check minimum requirements. An inspector can catch mistakes at the foundation, framing, and pre-drywall stages, then return for an 11-month inspection before your builder’s one-year warranty expires.
Plan on two to four hours for most McKinney homes. Bigger, older, or two-story homes take longer, and extras like termite or pool inspections add a bit more time. You’ll usually have your report within a day.
We highly recommend it. Termites love North Texas and can chew through wood for years before you ever spot the damage. A standard inspection doesn’t cover them in depth, and VA loans often require a Wood Destroying Insect (WDI) report.
Think of us as a second set of eyes before you make a big decision. We check the foundation, roof, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and appliances, then hand you a clear report on what’s working and what isn’t. Here in the Lone Star State, the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) licenses inspectors and sets the standards we follow.
Blame the clay soil. It swells when wet and shrinks when dry, and that constant shifting stresses foundations all over McKinney. If you notice cracks in brick or drywall, sticking doors, or sloping floors, have an inspector take a look.
